Welcome to Mount K2 and Gondogoro La pass. K2 is the second highest mountain in the world, it is humongous and astounding. Grab your gears to cross the Gondogoro La pass and witness the glory of K2 from the K2 base camp. It is going to be a challenging trek so grab gears and pack your bags; you are in for a breathtaking experience. It is a 23 day trek through the huge monstrous peaks and slippery cold valleys. It is not an exaggeration to say that this trip is a lifetime experience.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival

Welcome to Islamabad a calm and secure city in the middle of chaos. Pakistan is well known for the terrorist activities but the government has succeeded in maintaining the law and order. Pakistan is also known for Karakoram and Hindukush mountain ranges that are a definite beauty. Get ready to explore the splendid mountains and the ecstatic plains.

Day 2Welcome to Skardu

We will travel through the ancient town of Taxila and beautiful hill station Abbottabad and meet the Indus River on Thakot Bridge. 5th century inscriptions by Chinese pilgrims and ancient travelers can be seen carved on the rocks. We spend the night in the jubilant town of Skardu.

Day 3Welcome to Chilas

We travel to Chilas via Karakoram highway exploring the beautiful scenery. We will also travel through the Indus gorges side. The ride through the spectacular roads of the Karakoram highway is astonishing in itself. We will reach Chilas by jeep and spend the night in the hotel.

Day 4Skardu

We have a free day at Skardu. We prepare for the upcoming journey while exploring this beautiful town. We will visit the historical fort of Skardu. Surrounding on two sides by river Indus this fort has a strategic military advantage. The beautiful blue lake four miles south of the town known as the Sadpara lake is a charmer. The bazaars are colorful and brilliant.

Day 5Skardu to Askole

At 3050 meters it is the highest inhabitance in the region. After an 8 hour drive through the valleys of Shigar and Braldu we reach Askole. The total distance of 96 kilometers is lively. This is our first camping site. We spend the night in tents.

Day 6Askole to Korophone

We leave the last inhabitant village of Askole and continue on our journey. The porters will carry the food and equipment for the journey. We come across an old field on the way which the legend says was used for playing Polo. We pass through a rock gap to cross Biafo glacier and camp besides its snout at Korophone.

Day 7Korophone to Jhula

We trek to the Dumurdo river cross at Jhula and camp overnight facing the Bakhordas.

Day 8Jhula to Paiju

We trek for 7 hours to a green oasis below the Paiju Peak standing tall at 6611 meters. Paiju is a Balti word which means salt. We find rock salt deposits at the base of the peak. The Baltoro glacier looks impressive from the camp.

Day 9Paiju

Enjoy this free day in the lap of the mountain. Explore the beautiful environment and breath in the fresh air. The crew and the porters take this necessary day to rest and prepare for the further journey. We spend the night in tents.

Day 10Paiju to Urdukas

We travel through the junction of Paiju-Baltoro glaciers and have lunch below Liligo, a traditional camp under the muddy cliffs and with fine views of rock spires. We cross the Khuburse torrent and two glacier moraines to reach the lush green plains of Urdukus.

Day 11Urdukas to Goro

We walk along the Baltoro glacier and traverse the Yermanandu glacier. The view of Muztagh, Mitre and Gasherbrum is magnificent. It is a seven hour walk to the altitude of 4500 meters. We spend the night in tents.

Day 12Goro to Concordia

Grab your breakfast before 6 we leaving early today. We walk through the Baltoro glacier to the glacial junction of Concordia. This is a huge junction were Baltoro, Abruzzi and Godwin Austin Glaciers meet at 4000 meters. We find 41 peaks over 6500 meters including 4 peaks above 8000 meters surrounding us from all sides. This panorama of peaks is found nowhere else on earth. The trek is 6 hours long and we reach a height of 4720 meters.

Day 13Concordia

Today is a rest day at Concordia. Let the scenic beauty of Concordia engulf your senses. Visit the nearby K2 base camp which is about 4 hours away. K2 is the second highest mountain in the world. We spend the night in tents.

Day 14Concordia to Ali Camp

We leave Concordia and trek for 2 hours to reach Vigne glacier. Depending on the snow condition we can also walk on the Vigne glacier. We reach Ali Camp and spend the night in tents.

Day 15Gondogoro La Pass- Khuspang

We have to wake up as early as 2’o clock to cross the Gondogoro La pass to reach Khuspang. The main reason behind the early walk is to avoid the sun so you won’t get tired quickly. We reach the top of Gondogoro La at 5700 meters early in the morning. It is a tiring 11 hours trek and we spend the night in tents at Khuspang.

Day 16Khuspang

Explore Khuspang, play in the snow and enjoy the sun. Today we replenish our energies for the further trek.

Day 17Khuspang to Dalsangpa

Dalsanga, meaning ‘field of flowers’ is a 6 hour trek from Khuspang. This beautiful campsite is at 4150 meters altitude is set between two lakes. We have to cross a glacier to reach here. We have a perfect view of Masherbrum Mountain.

Day 18Dalsangpa to Shaicho

Trek through stony, sliding glacier edge, with huge boulders poised above, ready to fall. It is an easy trek of 7 hours.

Day 19Shaicho to Hushey

We descend to the Hushey village with a free evening at hand. We spend the night in tents.

Day 20Hushey to Skardu

The jeeps will take you to back to the beautiful town of Skardu. We transfer to a hotel to spend the night.

Day 21Skardu to Islamabad

A flight is waiting for you at the Skardu airport to take you back to Islamabad. If the weather is bad you will have to travel to Chilas by jeep.

Day 22Chilas to Islamabad

From Chilas we reach Islamabad via road with Indus river accompanying us on the way.

Day 23Departure

It is time to say goodbye to Pakistan and return back to your home with a bag full of unforgettable memories.
