Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad
You’ll be welcomed at Islamabad International Airport and transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, a short city tour is possible. Overnight stay in Islamabad.
Day 2: Flight to Skardu (or drive to Chilas if flight canceled)
A scenic flight over Nanga Parbat brings us to Skardu. If the weather doesn’t permit flying, we drive to Chilas via the legendary Karakoram Highway.
Day 3: Drive to Khaplu and Machulu Village
We continue along the Indus River to Khaplu, one of Baltistan’s most beautiful towns. From there, we reach Machulu, a peaceful village known for its views of Masherbrum (7,821m). Overnight in a local guesthouse or campsite.
Day 4: Trek from Machulu to Quli Brangsa
Our trek begins with a gentle uphill walk through meadows and shepherd trails. Camp at Quli Brangsa, a lush grazing area used by locals during summer. Stunning views of Masherbrum accompany us all day.
Day 5: Quli Brangsa to Machulu La Viewpoint (4,300m)
We ascend gradually to Machulu La Viewpoint, the main highlight of the trek. From this natural platform, weather permitting, you’ll see the Big Four Peaks:
- K2 (8,611m)
- Gasherbrum I (8,080m)
- Gasherbrum II (8,035m)
- Broad Peak (8,051m)
We spend time at the top soaking in the views, taking photos, and resting before descending back to camp.
Day 6: Return to Machulu, Drive to Khaplu
After breakfast, we trek down to Machulu village and continue by jeep to Khaplu. Optional visit to Khaplu Fort and local apricot orchards. Overnight in hotel or guesthouse.
Day 7: Drive back to Skardu
We return to Skardu, the administrative hub of Baltistan. Explore local markets, buy handicrafts, or visit Satpara Lake and the historic Shigar Fort.
Day 8: Fly to Islamabad / Drive to Chilas
Catch a morning flight back to Islamabad (subject to weather). If the flight is unavailable, begin the return road journey to Chilas.
Day 9: Free Day in Islamabad / Complete Drive from Chilas
If already in Islamabad, enjoy a sightseeing tour of the capital – Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh, and Saidpur Village. Otherwise, complete the drive from Chilas to Islamabad.
Day 10: Departure Day
Transfer to the airport for your international flight. The journey ends, but the views of K2 and the Karakoram will stay with you forever.
