The Eight Thousanders Base Camps Trek is the ultimate trekking experience in Pakistan, a legendary journey through both the Karakoram and Himalayan ranges. In a single expedition, trekkers will stand beneath five of the world’s highest mountains, including K2 (8,611m), Broad Peak, Gasherbrum I & II, and Nanga Parbat (8,125m). No other trek on Earth provides this level of exposure to such an elite lineup of 8,000-meter giants.

Starting from Islamabad, this 27-day adventure takes you to Concordia, the heart of the Karakoram, then across the thrilling Gondogoro La Pass (5,750m) into the Hushe Valley. From there, the trek heads to Fairy Meadows, the dreamlike Himalayan meadow facing the killer mountain – Nanga Parbat.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Islamabad

Welcome at the airport and transfer to hotel. Trek briefing and final preparations.


Day 2: Free Day in Islamabad

Sightseeing, permits, and gear check. Visit Faisal Mosque or explore Rawalpindi bazaar.


Day 3: Drive to Chilas via Babusar Pass or KKH

Scenic drive through the mountains of Hazara and Kohistan. Overnight in Chilas.


Day 4: Drive to Skardu

Follow the mighty Indus River upstream to reach the capital of Baltistan – Skardu.


Day 5: Rest Day in Skardu

Explore Shigar Fort, Satpara Lake, or relax before the trek begins.


Day 6: Jeep to Askole (3,000m)

A rough 4×4 ride through Braldo Gorge to Askole, the last permanent village before the mountains.


Day 7: Trek to Jula (3,200m)

Start your glacier journey. Camp by the Braldu River under towering cliffs.


Day 8: Trek to Paiju (3,400m)

Arrive at the base of the Baltoro Glacier, the path to the big mountains.


Day 9: Acclimatization and Rest Day

Explore surroundings and prepare for glacier walk.


Day 10: Trek to Khoburtse (3,800m)

Enter the Baltoro Glacier, where Trango Towers and Uli Biaho rise like sentinels.


Day 11: Trek to Goro (4,200m)

A surreal trail over ice and moraine. Views of Masherbrum and Gasherbrum IV.


Day 12: Trek to Concordia (4,650m)

The great mountain amphitheater. Behold K2, Broad Peak, and the Gasherbrums.


Day 13: Excursion to K2 Base Camp (5,150m)

Long day hike to the base of the world’s 2nd highest mountain. Return to Concordia.


Day 14: Rest Day at Concordia

Soak in views, visit Broad Peak Base Camp, or relax after K2 BC hike.


Day 15: Visit Gasherbrum I & II Base Camps

Take a trail up the Godwin-Austen Glacier to explore more 8000er camps.


Day 16: Trek to Ali Camp

Prepare for the Gondogoro La crossing with gear checks and early rest.


Day 17: Cross Gondogoro La (5,750m)

Start before dawn. Stunning sunrise over K2 from the pass. Descend into Khuspang.


Day 18: Trek to Dalsang Pa

Continue down the Hushe Valley, a green alpine contrast to the glacier terrain.


Day 19: Trek to Hushe Village (3,100m)

Celebrate the end of the high-altitude trek in a lush, picturesque Baltistani village.


Day 20: Drive to Skardu

Return to Skardu by jeep. Hot shower, local food, and real beds!


Day 21: Drive to Gilgit

Begin the Himalayan leg of the adventure. Travel along the Indus and Hunza rivers.


Day 22: Explore Hunza Valley

Visit Baltit Fort, Hopper Glacier, Attabad Lake, and Passu Cones.


Day 23: Drive to Fairy Meadows

Drive to Raikot Bridge, switch to jeep, then hike to Fairy Meadows – a true paradise.


Day 24: Excursion to Nanga Parbat Base Camp (3,900m)

Soft hiking day to view the Rupal Face of Nanga Parbat – the 9th highest peak in the world.


Day 25: Drive to Besham or Chilas

Begin the return journey through Kohistan or Babuser Pass, depending on route.


Day 26: Return to Islamabad

Final leg of your journey. Farewell dinner in Islamabad.


Day 27: Transfer to Airport – Departure

Goodbye mountains! Transfer to airport for return flight.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Zürich, Switzerland

We’ll meet at 4 p.m. at our hotel in Luzern (Lucerne) for a “Welcome to Switzerland” meeting. Then we’ll take a meandering evening walk through Switzerland’s most charming lakeside town, and get acquainted with one another over dinner together. Sleep in Luzern (2 nights). No bus. Walking: light.

Day 2Zürich–Biel/Bienne–Neuchâtel–Geneva

Enjoy an orientation walk of Zurich’s OLD TOWN, Switzerland’s center of banking and commerce. Then, leave Zurich and start your Swiss adventure. You’ll quickly discover that Switzerland isn’t just home to the Alps, but also to some of the most beautiful lakes. First, stop at the foot of the Jura Mountains in the picturesque town of Biel, known as Bienne by French-speaking Swiss, famous for watch-making, and explore the historical center. Next, enjoy a scenic drive to lakeside Neuchâtel, dominated by the medieval cathedral and castle. Time to stroll along the lake promenade before continuing to stunning Geneva, the second-largest city in Switzerland, with its fantastic lakeside location and breathtaking panoramas of the Alps.

Day 3Enchanting Engelberg

Our morning drive takes us from Swiss lakes to Swiss Army. At the once-secret Swiss army bunker at Fortress Fürigen, we’ll see part of the massive defense system designed to keep Switzerland strong and neutral. Afterward, a short drive into the countryside brings us to the charming Alpine village of Engelberg, our picturesque home for the next two days. We’ll settle into our lodge then head out for an orientation walk. Our stroll through the village will end at the Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery with its own cheese-making operation. You’ll have free time to wander back before dinner together. Sleep in Engelberg (2 nights). Bus: 1 hr. Walking: light.

Day 4Interlaken Area. Excursion to The Jungfrau Massif

An unforgettable trip to the high Alpine wonderland of ice and snow is the true highlight of a visit to Switzerland. Globus Local Favorite At an amazing 11,332 feet, the JUNGFRAUJOCH is Europe’s highest railway station. Jungfrau’s 13,642-foot summit was first ascended in 1811 and in 1912 the rack railway was opened. There are lots of things to do here: enjoy the ALPINE SENSATION, THE PANORAMA 360° EXPERIENCE, and the ICE PALACE. Also receive your JUNGFRAU PASSPORT as a souvenir to take home with you. The round trip to the “Top of Europe” by MOUNTAIN TRAIN will take most of the day.

Day 5Lake Geneva and Château de Chillon

It’s market day in Lausanne! Enjoy browsing and packing a picnic lunch for our 11 a.m. boat cruise on Lake Geneva. A few miles down-shore we’ll dock at Château de Chillon, where we’ll have a guided tour of this delightfully medieval castle on the water. On our way back we’ll take time to peek into the vineyards surrounding Lutry before returning to Lausanne. Boat: 2 hrs. Bus: 1 hr. Walking: moderate.
