Duration: 50 Days | Region: Diamer District, Gilgit-Baltistan | Altitude: 8,125m (26,658 ft)
Organized by PakJourney – Pakistan’s Premier High-Altitude Expedition Company
Overview
Nanga Parbat, meaning “Naked Mountain”, is the 9th highest peak in the world and the 2nd highest in Pakistan after K2. It stands in isolation, rising dramatically above its surroundings in the western Himalayas near the Indus River. Famously known as the “Killer Mountain”, it has one of the highest fatality rates among 8000-meter peaks, especially via the Rupal Face, the highest mountain face on Earth (4,600m of vertical relief).
The mountain has three major faces:
- Rupal Face (South) – the most dramatic and commonly attempted route
- Diamir Face (West) – used by most commercial expeditions for ascent
- Rakhiot Face (North) – rarely climbed and highly technical
Despite its deadly history, Nanga Parbat today is a symbol of bold Himalayan exploration and a magnet for high-altitude mountaineers from around the world.
